The cash for clunker program, which started on July 24th, was supposed to go through November, or when the money ran out. Problem is the program has been an unexpected hit with consumers. The money looks like it ran out in a week.
If you want to keep track of the program, the best way to keep updated is:
This is the official site, and they’ve had running reports about if the program is on or off. The House of Representatives passed legislation to expend it, at least for a little while. However, the Senate hasn’t passed anything yet. If it does get passed, the program may change. The change that I’ve heard about is increasing the MPG requirement of the new car. So if you’re planning on buying a car with a high MPG already, you might be okay if you sit tight. Stay tuned!
